Richard & Sean: A24's Next Hit; 'Karate Kid' Trips; a Box Office ConcernRichard frets for the future after Sony's August-esque debut. Plus: Sean bets on Celine Song's romantic comedy 'Materialists'What to make of this weekend at the box office? Lilo & Stitch and Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning both managed solid holds after their blockbuster Memorial Day openings; however, Karate Kid: Legends debuted with only a mild kick. The legacyquel with stars Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan at the center of its marketing campaign (but not the movie, due to its actual narrative) fell below its pre-release tracking and finished in third place behind both Lilo and Tom Cruise.
