| | Kamala Harris and Donald Trump will meet and debate for the first time on ABC tonight, and it may be the only moment they face off this cycle. The last debate featured Trump and President Joe Biden, the latter of whom eventually dropped out after his poor performance. But the dynamics of this event are very different given the generational difference between the candidates but also where things stand: Polls show the race neck and neck, versus a slight edge for Trump at the last debate. Among the things Deadline is watching for tonight are the extent to which moderators insert themselves into the debate with real-time fact checking. An element of that is the new focus on the "sanewashing" by some media outlets of Trump's more outrageous or incoherent ramblings, making them appear more palatable than they actually are. >>>Body Language & Baiting Trump |
