TOP NEWS Tuesday primaries: Cheney, Palin, and Murkowski Win McNamee/Getty Images Wyoming and Alaska have their primary elections Tuesday; both states feature high-profile races pitting Trump-endorsed candidates against traditional conservatives. [Associated Press / Steve Peoples and Mead Gruver] In Wyoming, Rep. Liz Cheney is expected to lose her House seat to Trump-backed election denier Harriet Hageman. Cheney voted to impeach Trump and currently helps lead the House committee investigating January 6, 2021. [Washington Post / Amber Phillips] Former governor and vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin is in a tight special election runoff for Alaska's one House seat. Polls from July show Palin and Republican businessman Nick Begich III trailing Democrat Mary Peltola. [New York Times / Trip Gabriel] Incumbent Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski faces Trump-endorsed Kelly Tshibaka in Alaska's Senate race. Murkowski voted to convict Trump for inciting the Capitol insurrection. [ABC News / Alina Kim, Eric Fayeulle, and Hannah Demissie] The top four candidates advance to Alaska's general election, where voters rank their choices. That means it could be a while before we know Murkowski's political fate. [FiveThirtyEight / Nathaniel Rakich] Kenya's disputed presidential election Monday, former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga rejected Deputy President William Ruto's victory in Kenya's presidential elections. [BBC / Dickens Olewe] According to Kenya's election commission, Ruto won 50.49 percent of the vote while Odinga finished second with 48.85 percent. However, four commissioners joined Odinga in not supporting the results. [CNN / Bethlehem Feleke and Larry Madowo] Odinga also challenged 2017's presidential vote, which the supreme court ultimately declared invalid. Odinga then lost to incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta in a rerun marred by violence.
